To compete in this discipline from a professional or semi-professional point of view, it is essential to take into account the most important rules to follow.
In floorball (large field) every single match is divided into three halves of 20 minutes each, although for the youth categories the halves become two of 20 or 15 minutes.
Floorball rules: the match
The match begins with a face-off in the center of the field: one player from each team must position the blade of the stick parallel to that of the opponent and perpendicular to the middle of the field. At the referee's whistle, each player will then try to win it, thus starting the match.
During the game, each player must handle the ball with the paddle, but it is also possible to touch it with the foot only if you then immediately touch it with the bat. Furthermore, the ball cannot be passed to your teammate with your foot (it's not football!) and it is absolutely forbidden to play it using your hands, arms or head. Such a violation of the rules could result in a two minute penalty.
Jumping and touching the ball without having one foot on the floor is also considered an infraction.
Floorball rules: fouls
In floorball the stick must be kept low and never above hip height: in case of infringements, players can be expelled from the match for up to 10 minutes.
It is strictly forbidden to hit both your opponent's and your opponent's bat with your own bat and it is not permitted to use your body to defend yourself, but only to cover the ball. It is not even possible to try to steal the ball by passing the stick between the opponent's legs.
However, it is permissible to give a slight push with the shoulders, but you must not hold, push, hit with the elbows or obstruct the passage. Basketball style "blocking" is prohibited and is considered breaking.
Each player may have the opportunity to make contact with the floor only through the feet, with one knee and with the hand holding the stick. If other parts of the body touch the base of the field, continuing to play, he will be punished with a two-minute penalty.
Floorball rules: The penalty shot
The penalty shot is awarded if there is an infringement that prevents a real opportunity to hit the net. When taking a penalty in the match, all players except the shooter and the goalkeeper must leave the field. The penalty is moving as in ice hockey: the shooter in charge starts from midfield and only after he has reached the ball, the goalkeeper must leave the goal. The attacker must always touch the ball forward and in the event of a rebound from the goalkeeper or the post he will not be able to return the shot on goal.
